Death by meeting

November 11th, 2001 in Rants. Weblog

Well, another day served placidating a mediocre topic in hours of pointless discussion. The result: a wonderfully marginal improvement in direction. Bonus: I am realizing that good software cannot be developed in the traditional commercial model — managed by drones, and produced by morons. There is a real craftmanship that transends the corporate world, that few in the industry will ever discover. A pitty, really.

I know a handful of craftsman-like people that really know their stuff, but they are mostly smashed down by the idiots they work with. Real talent and passion, never realized. A sad state of the industry. Somehow, I must remember why I love to design and develop software.
