&lt;p&gt;I do use some low-level C code, although I'd say I'm slightly more into templates than low level C. The code you've seen has been a bit atypical, because I've been aware that I may be writing for platforms that "can't use templates." Although in retrospect, I don't think I believe that's actually true.&lt;/p&gt;
