About the site

I’m a software developer, writer, photographer, and artist. I enjoy life in all of its oddness and beauty, especially including the weird and wonderful. I believe that simplicity is possible in anything, where simple is defined as that thing we see when things fit just so. I strongly subscribe to the belief that greatness is had inch by inch, failure by failure, where failure is just a means to the end.

The site is a tumble of links, reviews, quotes, and essays — all aimed at learning the craft of software. It’s also home to a number of personal projects, creative endevours, HOWTOs, and reference materials.

This site has been happily hosted by Dreamhost for the last 10 years, and is currently powered by (and the letter Q).1 For a brief visual history of the site, here’s a set of previous themes.

Other sites

I manage several other sites for fun and/or profit. The most interesting one at the moment is RobotPony, an irreverent, uber-geek web comic.
